Clinical Focus:
I am a licensed clinical social worker with 10+ years of experience engaging children, teens, adults, and families in psychotherapy across a range of therapeutic settings. My work with clients is guided by the belief that the capacities to grow and to discover the
solutions to our dilemmas live within all of us. I work to provide clients with the type of space that allows these innate capacities to emerge—one of curiosity, respect, thoughtfulness, and a healthy dose of playfulness—and feel honored every day to have
the privilege of doing so.

I currently work with individuals (16+), couples, and families around a variety of life and relationship challenges including adjusting to major life transitions, grief and loss, relationship conflict, marital distress, depression, and anxiety. I also specialize in
supporting individuals and couples with challenges that can arise in parenting/caring for children impacted by ASD and/or mental health concerns. My specialization in this area includes a certification in Parent Hope Project, the first manualized approach to
addressing parent-child relationship concerns based on Bowen Family Systems Theory. Whatever a client’s present day or future challenges may be, my efforts are aimed at supporting lasting change and are primarily guided by Bowen Family Systems Theory.

By this point you might be thinking “Huh? What is this Bowen family thing she keeps bringing up?”. If so, fear not! Here are some of the key things I work on with clients to give you a better idea of what this Bowen family thing is all about:
  • Getting curious about symptoms and relationship challenges rather than orienting to them as something needing to be “fixed”
  • Growing one’s capacity to observe their patterns of emotional reactivity—how one begins to think, move, and relate—when anxiety shows up in self and/or others
  • Gaining insight into the family of origin dynamics and early life experiences that contributed to these patterns of reacting and relating when anxiety gets going
  • Considering how these patterns of emotional reactivity cause play a part in present day challenges, symptoms, and counterproductive relationship dynamics
  • Discovering more responsive and effective ways of managing anxiety and relating to important others
  • Clarifying one’s thinking around how they want to show up for themselves, for others, and for life’s challenges long term and identifying the steps that can help them get there

While Bowen Family Systems Theory is the main guide in these efforts, I also have extensive training in CBT, DBT, and ACT and frequently call upon these approaches when inviting clients to try out new ways of managing anxiety and emotional distress.

In my spare time...
My happiest place of all is curled up with a good book. Some other happy places that leave me feeling grounded and re-energized include slow flowing on my yoga mat, taking long walks outdoors (extra points when flowers are in bloom), laughing over silly
Facebook reels with my husband, and spending quality time with family. I also love exploring new places—the food, the people, the culture, the landscape—and excited to have endless opportunities for this as a new Fayetteville resident by way of Detroit, MI.
